Say NO to the Summer Slide this July
childwithcat

Every Summer Vacation, kids slide back in school. That’s what teachers and researchers say. So this July, as the iTwixie Nation, we are inviting every girl on the planet to SAY NO to the SUMMER SLIDE!

Stay SMART and SAVVY this SUMMER! Here’s how:
- Read the next iTwixie Summer Book Club Book selection, Fly Girl, by Sherri L. Smith
- Join forces with Girls Global Media, iTwixie, and #GirlsGovern, as girls around the world share speak out to make our world better
- Share your Summer Success Stories! What are you doing this Summer that could help other girls Say NO to the Summer Slide?

And be sure to vote for the June Blogger of the Month. Who will it be? Can’t wait to see and hope YOU get blogging, too!

Here’s to Summer Sleepovers, Campfires, Cannonballs and Saying NO to the Summer Slide, together, this July!

  1. Here’s my Summer Success Story-it’s currently in progress:)
A couple of days ago, at my day camp, my new friend, Amy, filled me in on how much she likes books. She gave me her favorite series, and authors. I enjoy reading a lot, and I know SO many girls who are too focused on their phones, and social media, that they don’t have the time to pick up a novel. And that got me thinking. Stories are the opportunity to travel to exotic lands, without leaving your town. It is a way for you to meet people and learn their stories, without having to follow them on Snapchat. So here is my idea-in-progress: Having a competition. Girls would have the opportunity to write their own story. Whether it be fantasy, science fiction, or a story about something that happened to you, you write it. And here is where it gets interesting and fun. The winner of the challenge has their story published. Everyone’s stories would be able to be read by the public, but only one would get published through this competition. If you gals think this is a good idea, let me know! Charlie’s Story Writing Competition is the opportunity for girls to get excited about reading and writing! Please get the word out and think about it yourself. What story will YOU write?
