Kat works at Colgate University in Athletic Communications, because for her, sports are everything. She rocks. Check out her advice for YOU!
iTwixie: When did you know you wanted to work in Sports Management?
Kat: I’ve played sports my whole life. Sports bring me joy. Since I was young I knew I wanted to be involved with sports for the rest of my life.
iTwixie: Is that why you decided to go to RMU?
Kat: Yes, I realized that Sports Management would be perfect for me.
Kat: Sophmore year, I tore up my ankle. The hardest thing was to watch my team and not be able to play. It was so hard to get motivated to do anything: to see friends, to go to class, to eat. I learned that I could overcome a massive injury and that I could still move forward. When I realized that soccer wouldn’t be there forever, it helped me buckle down and work harder at school. It made me push to be a better athlete, student and a better me.
iTwixie: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing girls today?
Kat: Feeling inferior. Peer pressure. Petty comments about their bodies.
iTwixie: What advice do you have for girls?
Kat: Keep going for your dream. When you’re young, you’re always trying to fit in. Sometimes you have to stick out and be good at something different.
iTwixie: Why are tennis balls fuzzy?
Kat: OMG that is an awesome question! Maybe it takes away from the speed of play so that they stay in the service box/field of play… I have no idea… You are boggling my mind.
Thank you, Kat, for becoming a role model for many girls around the world. You rock!
