Will you catch a cold if you don’t wear a coat?
Is it better to leave your car running than to restart it?
Is it true that no two snowflakes are the same?

Can you really eat too many sweets? This poppy seed muffin looks harmless, right? lol We’ll share the recipe with you this month!

iCreate: Jolly Cookie Jar
kids holiday kitchen 83

These one-of-a-kind, do-it-yourself layered glass cookie jars come with all the necessary dry ingredients already measured out! It’s a “just add butter, eggs, and vanilla” kind of gift, which will delight grown-ups and kids alike. Any favorite cookie recipe will do, however we chose a recipe with walnuts, dried cherries, and chocolate chips for a festive look and delicious taste!

1-quart wide-mouthed jar (with a lid) in glass or clear plastic
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant)
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

3 x 3-inch piece white cardstock
Hole punch
16 to 18 inches narrow ribbon or kitchen string

Add each ingredient into the jar in the order listed. After each addition, use a large spoon or a small fist to level and pack down each layer. Attach the lid.

On the white card stock, make a gift tag that includes the following instructions:
“For scrumptious holiday cookies in a flash, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Beat together 3 ounces (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 egg in a large bowl or mixer. Add the contents of the jar and stir or mix until well blended. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until golden, 7 to 10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies. Enjoy!”

Punch a hole in a corner of your gift tag, and thread your ribbon or kitchen string through. When the tag is centered in the middle of the ribbon, tie the ribbon around the jar’s neck, or secure it under the threads of the lid.

beyoutiful

Congratulations to @Skyhigh02 for being voted as December’s BeYOUtiful Tween of the Month by the iTwixie community!

Here’s what this D.I.Y. diva wrote about what makes her BeYOUtiful:

“I like making crafts. I can crochet and I used that skill to make my bff a purse for her birthday! I made a binder for school out of duct tape and a cereal box. I decorate everything with duct tape! When I do a craft, I feel like I can do anything! I feel unique. I know that no one is perfect, but when I’m doing something creative like that, I feel like the most perfect person in the world! I write stories and I think I want to be a writer when I grow up. And I can use my creative skills to write an amazing book!”

The vote was super, super close and we are so amazed by all the amazing, BeYOUtiful girls who nominated themselves this month. Stay tuned for another chance in January!

Vote for December’s BeYOUtiful Tween!

This month, we asked for amazing girls to tell us why they should be December’s BeYoutiful Tween — and we loved the great responses that we got!

These are girls who know that being unique and authentic are key to true beauty! Read on — and vote for your pick in the poll below!

@monkeyface said: “I like to help others. I love dogs and I think we need world peace. Our world is getting torn apart I have a club at school to try to help world peace. My friends call me weird, but i think being weird is awesome because I don’t want to be normal. I am very perky. My spelling is not great, but I am in a 12-grade reading level and I love writing. I LOVE ALL MY FRIENDS ON iTWIXIE. I think evrey girl should win.”

@wykkydangel said: “I love drawing. I’m Wendy in my school’s production of Peter Pan. I also love to read and write. Anime and manga are two of my favorite things. I love to sing and play basketball. My friends are very important to me and I love all of them.  I love to cook. My favorite food is ramen and I can make it. I live by this quote: ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain.’ When I grow up I want to be a singer or an Egyptologist. I don’t try to be perfect, and I love being friends with everyone. I also love hugs! And I love being myself, even if it annoys people! I LOVE TO TALK, TOO!”

@yellowpencil said: “I’m a gymnast. I think being able to do things is just as important as making things. When I’m at gymnastics, I feel like nothing can hold me back. I’m an artist, my favorite medium is either pencil or clay. I like to be able to hold my work in my hands. I confess: I can’t draw on command. When inspiration comes to me, I’ll find a way to let it out. And I like choosing how. Thanks for listening.”

@skyhigh02 said: “I like making crafts. I can crochet and I used that skill to make my bff a purse for her birthday! I made a binder for school out of duct tape and a cereal box. For the entire month of December, iTwixie invites you to DO IT YOURSELF.

iTwixie girls aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get to work — whether they are writing stories, whipping up a delicious treat in the kitchen, dreaming up new inventions  – or even working together to make the world a cleaner and greener place.

This month, since the holidays have begun, we will be sharing some ideas for decorations, recipes and gifts that you can make yourself. Homemade holiday gifts are so full of heart — and when you do it yourself, you can make presents that are cheaper, better for the planet, and tailor-made for the friends and family you love!

Here are a few fun projects to start with:

Ginger Cream Cheese Cupcakes
Chalkboard and Decoupage Pots
Make a Memory Box
Rainbow Bobby Pins

Got ideas for a project that you would like to share? We hope you share your innovative ideas! Just use the comments below to tell us about a D.I.Y. project  you love best!
