iCreate: Jolly Cookie Jar
kids holiday kitchen 83

These one-of-a-kind, do-it-yourself layered glass cookie jars come with all the necessary dry ingredients already measured out! It’s a “just add butter, eggs, and vanilla” kind of gift, which will delight grown-ups and kids alike. Any favorite cookie recipe will do, however we chose a recipe with walnuts, dried cherries, and chocolate chips for a festive look and delicious taste!

1-quart wide-mouthed jar (with a lid) in glass or clear plastic
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant)
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

3 x 3-inch piece white cardstock
Hole punch
16 to 18 inches narrow ribbon or kitchen string

Add each ingredient into the jar in the order listed. After each addition, use a large spoon or a small fist to level and pack down each layer. Attach the lid.

On the white card stock, make a gift tag that includes the following instructions:
“For scrumptious holiday cookies in a flash, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Beat together 3 ounces (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 egg in a large bowl or mixer. Add the contents of the jar and stir or mix until well blended. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until golden, 7 to 10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies. Enjoy!”

Punch a hole in a corner of your gift tag, and thread your ribbon or kitchen string through. When the tag is centered in the middle of the ribbon, tie the ribbon around the jar’s neck, or secure it under the threads of the lid.

Makes 1 jar

You are gonna love this Grilled Cheese with Bacon recipe by @dainbramaged

Good bacon.
Salted butter, melted.
Bread. Homemade is way better!
Either 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese OR sliced cheese. Shredded gives a more melted cheese.

Preheat oven to 375 F. Bake bacon on a slotted broiler pan and bake until crisp.
Brush one side of each piece of bread with butter.
Assemble bread bacon and cheese. Grill in frying pan until golden brown.

Voila! Le sammich a la @dainbramaged!

Try this Cannoli Recipe by Hawkstar

Thanks, @Hawkstar, for this cool recipe! Cannoli’s aren’t an every day kind of treat, so try and make these and send in a picture of yours. We cannot wait to see! Here’s how you’ll make them:

  • Ricotta cheese
  • Cannoli shells or ice cream waffle cones
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Sugar
  • Honey
  • Yogurt

Assembly Instructions (This may take up to a half hour)

Step 1: Mix Ricotta Cheese, Chocolate Syrup, Sugar, and Yogurt in a small
bowl, as you will not need too much of this unless you are serving a large
party of people. Around 3 table spoons of Ricotta is good for around three
people, and double that if you are having 6 or more. You can add as much
sugar as you want, same for the yogurt and chocolate syrup depending on
how sweet you want it.

Step 2: Set that off to the side after stirring and preheat your griddle
to 5 or 6 on the dial. Grab the waffle shells or Canoli shells and set
them on the griddle. Let them reach a golden brown or brown, as this might
make them a bit crunchier. Take them off the griddle when brown or golden
brown and set them on a plate.

Step 3: Stuff the shells with the mixture of Ricotta, Chocolate Syrup,
Sugar, and Yogurt and garnish with honey or more chocolate syrup.

(Serves 1 Cannoli each! CAUTION:This is a very rich desert!)

Hope you like my recipes! You rule! @Hawkstar:)
