Congratulations to @dreamer3527 who was the first Smart Girl to successfully take the last Smart Girl Challenge! You are right,  @dreamer3527, Jupiter has the shortest day, of all of the planets in our solar system. That’s because Jupiter is kind of like an ice skater, and uses angular momentum and its shorter radius to move faster than other planets. Thank you, Taylor Planetarium at the World renown Museum of the Rockies, for this awesome explanation and challenge! Now, @dreamer3527, just send in your parent’s mailing address to “info@itwixie.com” and we will send you a Smart Girl Challenge surprise! We are so proud of you!

For our next Smart Girl Challenge, check out these amazing women makers who will be featured on the back of the new, ten dollar bill. And then, tell us, who is going to replace Andrew Jackson on the new twenty dollar bill? First girl to correctly and successfully take this challenge will be our next winner!

They say the new designs will be out by the year 2020! Whew! Where will YOU be in 2020? lol

Ok, girls, learn about these amazing women! And tell us, who is going to be on the new twenty dollar bill? We’ll announce the winner on May 16!

1. Alice Paul (1885-1977)
Image: Alice Paul

Alice Paul opened the headquarters of the world’s woman’s party in Geneva. Here, Alice Paul appears at Plymouth, England, on May 24, 1939. AP, file

Alice Paul founded the Congressional Union, which became known as the National Woman’s Party. She said, “It is incredible to me that any woman should consider the fight for full equality won. It has just begun.”

She went on to say, “There is hardly a field, economic or political, in which the natural and unaccustomed policy is not to ignore women … Unless women are prepared to fight politically they must be content to be ignored politically.”

We agree, Alice Paul, and we stand with you and all women and girls for equal rights :) Together we can change the world.

2. Lucretia Mott (1793-1880), said, “W
e hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men and women are created equal.” Mott was president of the American Equal Rights Association, which called for equality for women and African Americans

3. Sojourner Truth (1797 – 1883), was b
orn into slavery in Ulster County, New York. She fled and went on to become a preacher and orator regarded as one of the greatest advocates for human rights in the 19th century.  Smithsonian magazine in 2014 called her one of the 100 most influential Americans of all time.

4. Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) is well known as a social reformer and women’s suffrage movement leader.  Anthony was a founder of the National Woman Suffrage Association, and was arrested in 1872 for voting in the presidential election. She was found guilty and fined $100, which she refused to pay. Anthony said she was convicted by “laws made by men, under a government of men, interpreted by men and for the benefit of men,” according to an account in the Kansas Leavenworth Times from 1873, which is online at Rutgers University.

5. Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815-1902)
helped organize the world’s first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. She became first President of National Women’s Suffrage Association and held that office from 1869-1890.
She said, ”We are persons; native, free-born citizens; property-holders, tax-payers; yet are we denied the exercise of our right to the elective franchise.”
Pretty cool, eh? So, girls, who is going to be on the new ten dollar bill? Tell us right here and maybe YOU will be our next winner! We’ll announce the winner on May 16! Good luck!

Smart Girl Challenge for Hanukkah!
iTwixie Smart Girl Challenge

Way to go, Smart Girl! You took the Smart Girl Challenge and you are this week’s winner! Let’s all congratulate Way to go, @ilovepuppies25

Here’s how @ilovepuppies25 fixed this week’s Smart Girl Challenge sentence: She and I sang, “Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the snow is so delightful!” Way to go, @ilovepuppies25! You are one of nearly 20,000 girls who help make iTwixie the Smartest Place on the Planet!

For Hanukkah, we’ve got a special Smart Girl Challenge for you to try. Check it out and good luck! Here it is:
juda found only enuff oil for one night in the tempel  but then a miracle happened and the oil lasted for ate days

About Hanukkah
In 186 BC, Syrian soldiers took treasures out of the Jewish Temple and Antiochus put up a status of the Greek god, Zeus, in the centre, but it had the face of Antiochus! Then he desecrated the most holy place in the temple and destroyed the Jewish holy scrolls.

Antiochus then banned  the Jewish faith & religion. If you were found out you and all your family were killed. He made the Temple into a shrine to Zeus. When soldiers tried to force Mattathias to make an offering to Zeus in his village, Mattathias refused, and killed a Syrian Soldier! Mattathias’s sons joined him and killed the other soldiers in the village. Then, Mattathias’s son Judah  took charge of the freedom fighters. Judah’s nickname was ‘Maccabee’ which come from the Hebrew word for hammer. He and his troops fought an undercover war for three years and then, finally, defeated them. Whew!

When they got back to Jerusalem, the Temple was in ruins. The statue of Zeus/Antiochus was still standing. So Judah and his freedom fighters cleaned the Temple and rebuilt the Jewish altar. On 165 BC, exactly three years after the statue was put up, the altar and Temple was rededicated to God. When Judah and his followers went into the Temple there was only enough oil to burn for one night, but a miracle took place and the oil burned for eight nights. That’s why Hannukah is celebrated for eight days! Happy Hannukah!
