1. Last week, we sewed the sides of our leaf-shaped fabric pieces together. Now, sew the last and first panel together, right sides together. Make sure you leave a gap in the middle of the seam, to fill it with stuffing.
2. Turn the ball right-side out and fill it with your choice of stuffing! Here are a few options for stuffing material:
You can use fabric scraps or cotton or wool stuffing. Or, fill it with dry rice to make a hacky sack or juggling ball! If you’re going to give your ball to a small baby, polyfill is the best choice. You can even sew in a small bell to make it jingle!
3. Finally, use a needle and thread to sew up the opening. Looking more like a ball now? The last step is to hand-sew the fabric circles to each end of the ball, to cover the seam ends. Or, you can just use fabric glue to put them in place.
Voila! The finished product!
Upload a picture of your fabric ball and send it to our Content Manager, Dana, at firstname.lastname@example.org! We’d love to see all of the different sizes and colors everyone has made!
