Researchers discovered these shouting frogs when they were recording different sounds frogs can make. During this research, the scientists would see the frog opening it’s mouth and then record what sound they made. But, sometimes, these frogs would open their mouths and the scientists couldn’t hear a thing. The sound they were making was too loud for humans to hear – only the other Borneo frogs in the room could hear it!
Fun fact: Frogs don’t actually drink water through their mouths. They drink water by absorbing it through their skin!
