Don’t bite your nails or pick at your cuticles — the strips of skin right around your fingernails. This can damage your nails or even let bacteria get under your skin! Ugh!
Keep your fingernails trimmed. Using a nail clipper or a nail file, trim your nails so that they are less likely to break or crack. Ouch.
Clean underneath your fingernails. We already know it’s a good habit to wash your hands, but making sure you get under your nails is important, too.
Just like our skin needs moisture, so do our nails. It’s a good idea to use hand lotion so that your fingernails and cuticles don’t get too dry. And always keep yourself well hydrated. Remember our water challenge? Nails look great when we get enough to drink, too.
