Have you noticed how many holidays use light in this darkest of months in the Northern Hemisphere?

The Jewish people celebrate for eight days, lighting one of the candles in the Menorah each day. Some families give tiny gifts each day. Kids love to play with a traditional toy, called the dreidel, which is easy to make!

Here’s the Hebrew spelling of Chanukah.

Check out all of these different ways of spelling Chanukah:

  • Chanuka
  • Chanukah
  • Chanukkah
  • Channukah
  • Hanukah
  • Hannukah
  • Hanukkah
  • Hanuka
  • Hanukka
  • Hanaka
  • Haneka
  • Hanika
  • Khanukkah

Some of our friends say that the best way to spell Chanukah is when the letters add up to 8, for the 8 days that the oil lasted in miracle of Chanukah.

Do you celebrate Chanukah? Tell us about your family’s traditions!

Happy Chanukah!
