On Saturday, March 26, the National Cherry Blossom Festival begins! This special festival celebrates the gorgeous cherry trees that surround the Tidal Basin in DC. These cherry blossom trees were a gift to Washington, DC from Tokyo in 1912. They continue to thrive after 99 years.
The US and Japan stand united in a special way this year, with the Festival’s diverse and creative programs that span 16 days in honor of the gift of trees. What a terrific way to shine a light on the enduring friendship between the two countries, right?
How will you celebrate today? Tomorrow? Next week?
