A German woman named Margarete Steiff invented the “animal” we call the Teddy Bear. She developed polio as a young girl and was confined to a wheel chair. Her mind, however, was a busy one. She worked as a seamstress sewing clothes. At the same time, she started making pin cushions in animal shapes. People loved her little animals and she made more and more of them. The bear was one of her most popular creations.
What a great story! Three cheers for Margarete Steiff!!!
