Check Out Jenna's STEM Study in Antarctica
November 11, 2010

I’ll spend two months this fall traveling for a scientific research project.

I grew up in a little town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

For a long time, I wanted to be an architect and spent a lot of time drawing up plans for houses. But I also considered becoming a farmer, teacher, bass player in a rock band, artist, and carpenter.

In high school, I took two chemistry classes that I ended up being pretty good at, so in college I decided to study chemistry too. I ended up with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry and a minor in Environmental Studies.

I am now a graduate student at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) where I am studying Chemical Oceanography. My goal now is to get my doctorate in Chemical Oceanography, spend time researching around the world, and then find a college in Pennsylvania to teach chemistry!

Thanks Jenna! We can’t wait to hear all about this HUGE adventure!  Hey girls, do you have any idea where Antarctica is? Check out this geography quiz that Jenna sent for you to try: http://www.lizardpoint.com/fun/geoquiz/samericaquiz.html

Good luck!
