The most striking feature of the platypus is its duck-like bill! It’s so cool! The platypus uses its bill to find food, just like a duck. Its flat tail, fur, way of swimming is similar to a beaver. Its burrow resembles the home of a ground hog. And its leathery eggs look like a turtle’s. WOWZO!
Check this out: the platypus is a mammal because females nurse their babies, but the females lay eggs like birds!
Scientists study the platypus because the males have venom that is extremely painful. The male’s venom sacks are near a spur on both rear legs.
