Lasers Rock & Girls Can Learn How to Work with Lasers, Too!

Did you know that the word LASER is actually an acronym (a word made up of letter that stand for more words)?

Light
Amplification by the
Stimulated
Emission of
Radiation

Kewl, right?

Lasers help us every day, by:

- making surgery more precise

- helping us draw uber straight lines

- pointing out important ideas when we’re giving presentations

and more!

Here’s how lasers help Tween Girls totally enjoy music:

As the CD spins over the laser, the laser reads the digital code on the CD’s surface (digital code is made up of 1′s and 0′s) . The numbers are “encoded” by tiny indentations, called pits, that determine whether the laser reads a number 1 (on) or a number 0 (off). There are millions of these pits on every CD.

Can you believe the amazing sound of your fave music group or singer has been encoded to 1′s and 0′s on CD’s? Wowser!
