Try this! It’s easy and fun for kids of all ages.
HOMEMADE GREETING CARDS
What you’ll need: Markers or crayons, scissors, old magazines, glue or tape, envelopes, paper
1: Before the parents leave, ask for some old magazines to use for a craft. Or, bring some of your own. Make sure that the magazines are ok for the age of kids you’re watching.
2: Give each of the kids a few pieces of paper, folded in half like a card.
3: Page through the magazines and help cut out words, phrases, letters, and pictures to tell a little about them, their family, or their dreams.
4: Then glue or tape the cutouts onto the paper. Try making designs or shapes, too!
5: Write a special note inside. It could say “happy birthday,” “happy 4th of July!” “thank you” or “get well!” Or, if you just feel like sending a card for no special reason, it could just say hi!
Have the kids decorate the envelopes and you can teach them how to write real mailing addresses on them, too!
