Plants Can Send Text Messages For Water!
September 24, 2009

A microchip is a tiny computer tool that can be as small as a postage-stamp!  This special, tiny microchip gets clipped to a leaf.   Then, when the plant needs water, the chip sends a text message to alert the watering crew! How cool is that?

Many parts of the world use irrigation — a process of supplying water to fields — and could use some help in making sure water only gets used when it’s needed.  So plant-texting can mean using less water and helping out our planet!
