So in honor of Slumber-ific September, we created a hangout for iTwixie girls to post great Slumber-ific Sleepover ideas (Slumber-ific Sleepovers: What’s Up With Your Name?). Does going online make sleepovers fun? Like iTwixie.com? Of course! On iTwixie, you know you’re safe. Our editors make sure that no one shares personally identifiable information. And we all are sure to be kind and respectful of each other, right? It’s awesome! But you always want to be careful whenever you go online by yourself or with your BFFs. So here are some great tips from our friends at the FBI on how to keep you and your friends safe online. Who knew that the FBI is not just about agents in dark glasses? Turns out, the FBI is all about keeping tweens safe and having fun online. How cool is that?
Here are some tips:
- NEVER post personal information about yourself online — you know, stuff like your last name, your town name, your street name, the name of your school or your address and phone number.
- If you EVER feel uncomfortable, stop and tell someone you trust what’s going on immediately.
- DO NOT meet someone or have them visit you without the permission of your parents. Period. End of story. Don’t do it.
- ALWAYS remember that anyone online could be pretending to be someone else — someone who says that “she” is a “12-year-old girl” could really be an older man. Creepy, right? But knowing that it can happen can keep you savvy and safe. So be aware!
