In all areas north of the equator, today is the shortest day of the year. In ancient times. people who worshiped the sun found this day sorta scary. They told all kinds of stories (myths) to explain it and to give them hope that longer days were coming.
The peoples of the North had parties, celebrations and ceremonies to celebrate the daylight that starts becoming greater after today, the shortest day of the year!
Do you have any ideas what these myths might be? Check back Sunday and we will tell you some of them.
